About Sina
A way of thinking, shaped by practice
My work explores the intersection of medicine, acupuncture, and education—bringing together ancient medical systems and modern clinical science in ways that are practical, grounded, and responsive to real-world care.
That interest continues to shape everything I do—as a speaker, educator, writer, and clinician.
I was trained in biomedical medicine and later became a licensed acupuncturist, not as a rejection of conventional medicine, but as an expansion of it. Over time, I found myself increasingly interested in how people actually experience care: how decisions are made, how systems interact, and how knowledge is translated into something usable rather than theoretical.
How I Think About Care
Care works best when it is thoughtful, contextual, and collaborative. I’m less interested in quick answers than in good questions—and in helping people make sense of complexity without being overwhelmed by it.
My approach draws from biomedical medicine, acupuncture, functional and integrative frameworks, and years of teaching across professional audiences. Whether I’m working with patients, dentists, clinicians, or conference audiences, I aim to create space for clarity, curiosity, and better decision-making.
I value rigor, but I don’t confuse rigor with rigidity. The goal is understanding that leads to action—not dogma.
Teaching, Speaking and Writing
Education is a central throughline in my work. I teach and speak nationally on topics related to acupuncture, integrative medicine, nervous system science, food as medicine, professional communication, and interdisciplinary thinking.
I’m especially interested in helping professionals engage with unfamiliar ideas without feeling talked down to or sold to. My goal is always the same: to respect the intelligence already in the room and offer frameworks that people can actually use.
Through Oris Dental Academy, I focus specifically on advanced education for dentists and dental teams, translating integrative concepts into chairside-relevant tools and language.
Clinical Work
I maintain a clinical practice in Chicago, where I provide integrative medical care for adults with complex or persistent concerns. Clinical work keeps my teaching honest and my thinking grounded.
Patient care is not separate from my other work—it informs it. The realities of clinical practice shape how I teach, write, and speak, and remind me that good ideas must ultimately serve real people.
A Human Note
Outside of professional roles, there are a few constants that reliably keep me curious and grounded.
I love to dance—social dancing in particular—and find that movement is one of the most reliable ways to reset my nervous system and stay present. Cooking is another long-standing passion, especially cooking for other people. Food, to me, is as much about connection and care as it is about nutrition.
And then there’s my hair.
If you’ve known my work for any length of time, you’ve probably noticed that my hairstyle changes frequently. It’s become something of a personal throughline—an outward reflection of curiosity, experimentation, and not taking myself too seriously.
